WE ARE IN A GLOBAL WORLD - VC

The lecturers in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Physical Science paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor recently in his office.

Welcoming the team, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. B. C. Egboka said that the peculiar nature of the Department makes them leaders in ICT world and noted that Computer Science is one of the oldest Departments in the University. He said that the world is becoming a global village and the status of the University depends greatly on ICT to reach out to the world.

The DVC (Academic), Prof. J. Ahaneku thanked the Department for their visit and urged them to tackle the challenges facing the University on ICT and also encouraged them to write proposals. He said that they should use ICT knowledge to move the University to the next level and to utilize the opportunities UNIZIK has got with the international linkages to their advantage.

Speaking earlier, the H.O.D Computer Science, Dr. V. E. Ejiofor said that they came to encourage the Vice Chancellor on the magnificent work going on in the University especially on the gigantic building under construction for Physical and Bio Sciences Faculty. She eulogized the administrative qualities of Prof. Egboka whom she tagged “an instrument for saving souls”. Dr. Ejiofor said that they came to solicit for the assistance for the Department in equipping their laboratory for the forth coming accreditation. She noted that UNIZIK students are doing well outside the country, and one of our students has been awarded scholarship (PhD) in Canada to do PhD studies. Finally, Dr. Ekechukwu thanked the VC for giving them time and promised that they will work hard for the growth of the Department.
