Philosophy

Environmental Sciences deal with planning, design, construction and management of the cultural and natural environment. The various disciplines that constitute environmental sciences are concerned with ordering the surface of the earth with a view to making it functionally appropriate, aesthetically pleasing and culturally relevant, while at the same time optimally utilizing available resources.

 (i)                 Objectives

The main objective of the programs is the production of Environmental Scientists who thoroughly understand and are capable of solving simple and complex environmental design problems within time and cost limits and available technology.

 (ii)               Admission Requirements

  1. Admission Through University Matriculation Examination (UME).    Candidates

should possess five “O” level credits obtained in not more than two sittings to include Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and any two of Biology, Economics, Technical Drawing, Geography and Fine and Applied Arts.  A minimum of credit pass in English is required.

(b)       Direct Entry.

Candidates should possess “A” level in at least two of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or hold OND/HND in Civil Engineering, Building Technology.

 

(iii)              Duration of Program

              a.      UME Entrants:  Six years.

              b.      Direct Entrants:   Five years.
